Brake Repair

Bowie is the third largest city in Maryland based on area, and it has one of the richest histories dating back to around 1853. Today the city features numerous historic sites like Belair, Governor's Bridge, and the Fairview Plantation. These sites are a big part of why so many choose to visit the area, but even those who call Bowie home pay them a visit from time to time. No matter where you're going or when, knowing that your car can get you there safe is important. That's why making sure your brakes are working properly is vital to your safety.

Keeping your car in good working order is important, and brakes are one of those things that you don't think about until you really need them. Most brake pads today have alert tabs on them. Basically, these are small metal tabs that are shorter than the brake pad itself is thick. When your brakes wear down to the metal tab, they begin to squeal. This lets you know that it's time to change your brake pads. However, not all cars have brakes with these warning tabs so it's important that you also make sure you keep up with regular maintenance visits.

A brake job usually isn't a major problem. It takes a skilled auto service expert a short time, normally no more than an hour or two, to complete a brake change on front wheels. Rear brakes are a bit more complicated and could take a little longer, but the process is still fast. Ignoring your brakes could cause damage to your rotors, which will in turn cost you more money to repair. Basically, you need to think of your brakes just like you would your oil or air filter and get them the regular maintenance they need in order to stay safe.
